A bedroom in the wee hours of the morning – Stephen King – or other stories from Overlook hotel

I’m currently going through a binge of stories from the horror master himself in anticipation for his latest book release. So I have found “A bedroom in the wee hours of the morning” and I was so pleasantly surprised to see the Overlook hotel back into focus. It’s been a while since The Shining graced my hands and I had missed the 70’s carpets and Jack Torrance.

There are three distinct stories in this little book – one with a woman taking her honeymoon at the Overlook hotel where she gets a feel from a ghostly hand under her bed, another one with young Jacky Torrance being beaten up by his alchoolic father.

The third one based in the Overlook hotel once more in 1958 follows a couple of murderers as they attack and kill the bodyguards and their charge in one of the presidential suites at the hotel.

They were outside and climbing into the parked car three minutes later. They left the Overlook behind them, standing gilded in mountain moonlight, white as bone under high stars. The hotel would stand long after the three of them were as dead as the three they had left behind.

The Overlook was at home with the dead.
