If you like a bit of mystery and a bit of drama with a small cast of characters, the Langoliers has the same level of drama as Richard Matheson – Nightmare at 20,000 feet and for some reason Nick – the secret agent – is also the sexy crush of the day much like he was in The Stand. What I loved about this book at the second reading was not how insufferable Toomey was with his paper ripping or how the blind girl just walks into a stabbing – but the concept of worlds that just come to be in an instant act of creation. Like who can imagine an entire universe just spinning up like a simulation with half of a sentence being muttered and people with entire histories just coming to life. Loved that aspect.

Imagine a force so relentless that it feeds on the moments we’ve left behind, leaving nothing but emptiness in its wake. The Langoliers become guardians of the past in a world where time is a intricate tapestry. Metal bodies, with sharp teeth, are among the indicators of dissolution

Secret Window

While I liked the book ending and how much it differed from the movie version with Johnny Depp, I found the book less disquieting than 10 years ago. A bit more of a story of a man deeply suffering from writer’s block and impostor syndrome, coupled with a mental breakdown caused by his divorce.

Library Policeman

This one was a neat story and while I knew the premise, the story felt dated somehow now, in the era of technology, where everything is available directly from your phone. Borrowing books to write a speech seems so outdated, doesn’t it? And a library that changes shape and answering machines just seem like madeup words. Just kidding but it’s been a while since I’ve seen one of these:
