The Dead Collection Box Set #1, #2: Jack Zombie Books 1-8

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Jack Zombie is a thrilling post-apocalyptic series that follows a tight-knit group of people as they travel the zombie-ridden wasteland once known as the United States. As you follow Jack and his family, you’ll soon discover that nothing can rival a human’s will to survive.

These books were good had me reading well into the night, I honestly could not put them down, the stories had good engaging people in them, some were good and some were bad, I liked the family and how it grew and that they had some humour even during the bad times, I really liked it when the bad guys got what was coming to them and was sad when some of the good people died, this was a very good zombie series!

Only thing I can say, it’s a looong read.

Pro: Good zombies. Short chapters. Loads of action.

Cons: Zombies should bloat and die off without chasing humans too much but from that even the Walking Dead is suffering from.

There’s a survivalist dad, the kind of guy who’s always prepared for the end of the world, the mild-mannered mom, who enjoys shopping and rolling her eyes at her husband’s crazy end-of-the-world theories, and maybe a couple of kids. They hear about the disease, the panic, the widespread death and destruction, and pops decides it’s best to dust off the old Airstream camper, go far up into the Indiana wilderness, and wait it out. Unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned, and depending on what I find inside of the camper, my guess is one of them was infected with the virus, maybe the mom or little Suzy Q. They’re all sleeping one night, dreaming of the old world, when Suzy Q dies and comes back as a zombie. She snacks on her family then moves on when the bones are stripped of flesh, muscle, and sinew.

Probably.

Like I said, I’m a realist, not so much an optimist.
