This is ICE DRAGONS SERIES, BOOK ONE.
Scientists don’t believe in dragons.
Dragons never think much about humans at all.
Maybe it’s time for their worlds to collide amidst the dangerous beauty of Antarctica.
Doctor and biochemist, Erin signed up for six months aboard an Antarctic research ship to escape her stifling surgery practice. Jerked from her cozy cabin, she’s dumped in an ice cave by men who assume she’s dead. Konstantin and Katya, twins and dragon shifters, have lived miles beneath the polar ice cap for hundreds of years. Other dragons left, but they stuck it out. When several humans—all but two of them dead—end up not far from their lair, the opportunity is too good to pass up.
If the lore is to be believed, humans can become dragon shifters. Delighted by a simple solution to their enforced isolation, the dragons lure the humans to their home. Surely, they’ll be thrilled by the prospect of becoming magical.
Or not.
Too bad no one shared the script with the humans. Science be damned, they’re horrorstruck in the face of fire-breathing dragons. All they want is to escape, but home is thousands of miles away.
He emerged into a day marked by brisk wind and cloudy skies and summoned shift magic. Bones stretched and altered, skin reformed and grew scales. His jaws elongated, and he clacked his double rows of teeth together.
Fire spewed from his mouth. He flexed his talons, beat his wings a time or two, and jumped into the air. He didn’t hesitate once he crested the spit of land separating him from three men standing around shouting at each other. He’d give them a reason for all that racket.
This was such a nice YA novel. Good plot, good cast of characters and dragons! Who doesn’t like dragons. The Ice Dragon * George R.R. Martin was a good attempt at a story and Reflection * A twisted tale – Elizabeth Lim was another one. I’m not going to mention the other Fire and Ice stories which contain a LOT of dragon references. My only gripe is that Konstantin and Katya (K&K) are pretty predictable. And there is a lot of sex for the poor teenagers reading this fiction!
After an initial hesitation, she dissolved into his arms, kissing him back as if he were her only hedge against drowning in an unfamiliar sea. Her nipples had formed stiff peaks where they pressed against his chest, and his cock shot to attention, hard and full and ready. The scent of her arousal was like nectar, stoking his hunger.
Some of the writing skill could be a bit more polished but this is not Barnes & Noble material so I don’t have to worry about it.
